Book Review: Bones of the Redeemed

Amy Booksy: "I had a hard time putting the book down. Ruby’s investigations lead her to some danger that often left me on the edge of my seat."

ABOUT THE BOOK

A pit of corpses. An ancient cult. A quest for redemption that could leave her dead…

New Mexico, 1952. Archaeology grad student Ruby Delgado is plagued by guilt after losing her son. So when her latest excavation drops her down a sinkhole filled with suspiciously mutilated bodies, she’s driven to bring the murderer to justice. But when digging deeper brings her dangerously close to a sinister religious sect, she could be their next sacrifice…

Discovering some of the victims were crucified, Ruby pushes hard to give the evidence to the authorities. But when her trail crosses the path of a beaten man left for dead in the desert, she realizes she may be the only person who can save the community.

Can Ruby stop the sacrifices and slay her inner demons, or will hers be the next body laid to rest?

Bones of the Redeemed is a hair-raising standalone Southwestern mystery. If you like complex heroines, cult conflict, and hard-won redemption, then you’ll love Kari Bovee’s grisly tale.

Book Review

Bones of the Redeemed is another fabulous read by Kari Bovee. I have had the pleasure of reading and enjoying some of her books previously and this one definitely does not disappoint. Readers are introduced to Ruby Delgado in the 1950s New Mexico. I really enjoyed getting to know Ruby. She is a brave, determined and courageous woman. She gets involved in quite the adventure that was full of action, mystery and suspense. It was great to take a thrilling ride with her that had some unexpected twists and turns. I never knew what was going to happen next. There was no way of predicting the scenes, which made it entertaining and fun. I had a hard time putting the book down. Ruby’s investigations lead her to some danger that often left me on the edge of my seat. I was constantly wondering and wanting to find out where she would end up or if she will make it out alive.
Bones of the Redeemed is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy a good heart stopping historical mystery. I hope to read more like this one by Kari Bovee in the near feature. This one will take readers to places they will not expect. It is so very good and definitely should not be missed. I thought it was great.
I received Bones of the Redeemed from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
