ABOUT THE BOOK
The Counselor by Curtis Taylor
Late one night Travis Call is awakened by a knock at the door. After months of suspense, the police have arrived with the news he dreaded: His wife, an up-and-coming actress, is dead.
And they suspect him of her murder.
As a young financial counselor, Travis has made millions for his clients, but a recent diagnosis of Lyme Disease has compromised his ability to think, to remember, to make good decisions. And now he may be in over his head with a new and suddenly rocky investment.
Travis is also a counselor in the bishopric of his ward at church. And now that he is suspected in his wife’s murder, he will almost certainly be released—or will he? Maybe the bishop knows more than the police do.
It’s a certainty that somebody close to him does.
With almost too many suspects to count, Travis has to find the real killer—before the real killer grows even bolder and silences him.
Book Review of The Counselor

When I began this mystery/crime drama, I was certain it was a quite “lame” story because, within the first few chapters, I knew who the “culprit” was… Or so I thought! The more I read the more unsure I became. This indecision continued throughout the tale until the last few chapters. The story was about a young man, active in the Church f Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a famous wife and an adorable set of adopted twins. When returning from a business trip he discovered his wife was missing. After months of worry, implications, and investigation, she is found. This only escalates the forthcoming events. Who is a friend and who is a foe?
The writing was superb, and the storyline was captivating. The characters were, mostly, endearing and the scenes were easily visualized. The action was continual as new events and questions unfolded. I literally had a very difficult time putting the book down for even a short time!
I could relate to the main guy character in the book because I have dealt with similar health issues through the years, except, the healers are “stumped” and still are searching for a diagnosis. None of the symptoms fit the various scenarios of health issues. I can really appreciate many of his challenges and feel connected to his character..
In any case, the story is an amazing and inspiring one for anyone -a “believer” or not! This is a clean fiction, most individuals will surely enjoy. I look forward to reading more books by this very talented writer’s books.
The Title and Image are both appealing and “fitting’.
I offer a solid Five Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me with no pressure, whatsoever, to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
A Little About Lu Ann from Rockin Book Reviews:
I grew up with a mother who loved books. She instilled in me a desire to learn, through books, all I could on any subject. I learned of many places I could visit – both real and imaginary – simply by reading about them.
I had a father who taught me a love of mankind, regardless of their religious belief or the color of their skin. He taught me a person’s honesty and integrity was among the most important aspects that forms a strong character.
Through these life’s lessons I strive to accept others for themselves and try to see the world through others view. It is important to me to give credit where credit is due even if the person’s values are not the same as mine. I strive to be objective and honest and go the extra mile in aiding others to succeed.
This is my dream job! I have always wanted to work for a publishing house – reading, reviewing and editing books. Now, online, this can partially be accomplished. I love most genres of books. There is much good in most genre types.
… I suppose you are wondering, while there are so many terrific reviewers available, what makes me think I can add anything effective to what has already been said about the book. The only response I have is:
(1.) There are almost as many opinions as there are individuals in this world.
(2.) This has been my lifelong dream job.
(3.) Reading and Reviewing has always come naturally to me. I have always been strong in my English grammar and reading skills, I loved debate, and I craved learning about almost everything.
