Review of Bazaar by Miles Joyner
It all starts with the murder of Adamu. As the investigation deepens, the authorities discover Bazaar tor, an assassination marketplace, predicting the date of death for individuals. This is a frightening scenario, considering how much technology has taken over our lives. Could this happen in the real world?
Ex-diplomat, Chiedu Attah, father of the murdered boy, has discovered he is high on the list and hires Yemi and Karen Uzunma’s security firm, Raptor, to protect him. Little do they know, the assassins will stop at nothing to accomplish their goal. It will be violent and bloody. A take no prisoners attack.
Aaron is a contract killer, determined to put the nail in Chiedu’s coffin. He is smart, bold, determined, and started out as a lone wolf. As time goes on, he attracts his own following.
Miles Joyner included little tidbits that had me doing my own investigation. A character gets stabbed and another treats his wound. An example that had me cruising the web was:
“No rubbing alcohol or peroxide?”
“Nope. It can damage the tissue.”
It’s true and I love when an author can capture my attention so completely that I have to know the facts. To me, it shows they do their due diligence when it comes to research, lending an air of reality to their writing.
To wrap things up, Miles Joyner has created a thriller that pits those who want to bring the elite down, against those who hold the power. He makes a statement about social unrest. It takes place in Washington DC, so it’s not a surprise that people like Chiedu are their targets. Miles caught me off guard more than once, leaving me to wonder who they can trust. Again, it makes me wonder, could this happen in our time?
