Initial thoughts on the Ghost Magnets

Reports have surfaced of tiny white phantoms lurking around kitchens, bookshelves, and TBR stacks. Witnesses claim these ghosts carry suspicious signs with cryptic messages like “Read More BOOOks” and “Too Ghoul for School.” Early evidence suggests these apparitions aren’t paranormal at all—they’re handcrafted from clay, painted with bookish puns, and equipped with magnets strong enough to haunt any refrigerator.

This file documents the investigation into their creation. Follow the steps carefully, and you too can summon your own squad of spooky, bookish companions this Halloween.

Evidence (Materials) Needed To Make the Spooky Ghost Magnets

  • White oven-bake clay or Glow in the dark clay, if you can find it.
  • Small rolling pin or jar.
  • Ghost-shaped cookie cutter (or freehand skills).
  • Small magnets.
  • Craft glue/sealant. *Optional*
  • Permanent marker or tiny paintbrush for lettering.
  • Acrylic paint or paint pens (black + accent colors).
  • Glow in the dark paint – Only needed if you can’t find glow in the dark clay or choose to have fewer “illuminated” ghosts.

The investigative steps we took to solve the Ghost Magnets case (Step-by-Step instructions)

  1. Suspect Formation – Roll out your clay to about ¼ inch thick. Cut ghost shapes with a cookie cutter or freehand your spooky bookish ghost magnet.
  2. Identity Markers – Smooth edges. Use a toothpick or sculpting tool to mark where the sign will attach.

3. Evidence Tags – Form small clay rectangles for “bookish pun signs.” See the list below for punny bookish saying ideas for your ghost magnet to display.

4. Assembly – Attach signs to ghosts while the clay is still soft. Follow the instructions that came with your oven-baked clay to bake it. I used this oven-bake clay with excellent results.

5. Fingerprinting – Paint faces, use glow-in-the-dark paint to make them “illuminated,” and write on puns after the clay is dry. (This will help you not have too many fingerprint suspects.)

6. Case Closure – Glue magnets to the back. Seal with a protective coat if desired.
