Now in their eighties, Paco and Molly have moved into Gilded Gates, an assisted living community in Maryland. They expect their golden years to be blissful. They are dead wrong. Some residents are missing, and no one knows what has happened to them.
One suspicious resident is a sleepwalker and claims to have heard mysterious moaning during his night walks, but for the life of him, he can’t figure out where the anguished sounds are coming from.
“Inspector Paco” has retired as head of the Black Rain Corners police force. But many residents of Gilded Gates fear they might be next on the list of the missing. They beg Paco to investigate.
Naturally, Molly also pokes her keen nose and shrewd insights into the baffling disappearances.

Review of The Moaning Lisa by Rosemary and Larry Mild
The Moaning Lisa by Rosemary and Larry Mild is a light-hearted murder mystery that features an older couple, Paco and Molly LeSoto, as the unlikely crime-solving sleuths.
Paco is a recently retired police inspector who served as the head of the Black Rain Corners Police Department. Molly is his gourmet meal cooking, witty, yet malaprop wife. Together, they have embarked on a life journey that many elderly couples will understand and relate to, a late-life move away from their home and into a local independent living community, The Gilded Gates. But, all is not well at the Guilded Gates home: there is an unusual number of guests who have mysteriously disappeared, people are being forcibly evicted from their comfortable suites and relocated into community dormitory rooms, and nighttime noises suspiciously sound like someone eerily moaning.
Upon discovering that Paco is a retired police inspector, one resident suffering from sleepwalking episodes decides to place his trust in Paco, sharing his sleepwalking dilemma, his exhaustion, and his inexplicable belief that someone needs help. Paco agrees to follow his new friend to help determine what is happening while he’s sleepwalking, and of course, Molly refuses to be left out of the adventure. Thus, the setting for the discovery of the cause of the missing people is inadvertently put in place.
The evolving investigation takes many unexpected twists and heightened dangers as sleepwalking becomes entangled in kidnapping and murder. Molly and Paco inadvertently become targets for the murderers and barely survive their own murder attempt!
The Moaning Lisa is a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, and completely unexpected murder mystery with lovely, quirky characters that demand an encore visit!
